The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 广场，学生，抗议，暴乱，镇压，政治，种族，性别，教育，人权，亲情，爱情，友情，全部浓缩在160分钟里面，无限反转，无限精彩。
这不如rrr叙事那么流畅，大陆观众看的是题材
非常厉害用女教授被害案为引子，引出了一连串的社会和制度问题，教授不合理剥削学生，警察勾结政客，政客民主选举作梗，无明说的种姓歧视，操纵媒体舆论造势引流，正义公正的行使方式，道德审判与法律审判的区别，这些时代热点话题全都点到并且用生动的情节演绎了出来。此外利用叙事技巧，一直成功的引导观众往期望的方向上联想，一次是重新复盘女教授死亡的可能性（前面适当埋设了伏笔），一次用几句台词重新改写警察全部的行为动机（最后将警察的行为圆回来感觉是为了保持高尚人设的一致性），都算是比较厉害的反转了。最后印度电影的刻意煽情，是唯一美中不足的地方了。
好糟糕劣质的节奏…不是好电影，哪里体现了敢讲？ 就像是营销号的知识量，也就糊弄天朝电影爱好者，大清都亡了！还闭着眼。
全篇都是热血激情反转的bmg，故事拍的像MTV一样😂印度人很敢拍，仅此而已。
印度现在的电影把严肃的社会议题和商业片所需要的跌宕起伏结合得越来越好了 虽然说里面所呈现的根深蒂固的顽疾远不是一场慷慨激昂有煽动力的演讲就能改善的 但至少没有一味的粉饰太平
真的只是题材立意好吗？真的只是拍了我们拍不出的题材吗？不能选择性眼瞎吧，这部电影在完成度上确实很高，层层相扣，一步步升级，用一部电影拍出了印度各个层面的问题，这不仅仅是敢拍的问题，整部电影的结构层次还有视角的切换都已经非常成熟。虽然我也会开玩笑说韩国电影治国，但是看看现在韩国甚至印度电影的完成度和体系化真的是要学习的吧，摆烂不要说着说着就当真了，如果能让你拍你想拍的题材你就拍的出了？
能拍敢拍三星起，中间是有点惊喜，但是总之太长了，没必要。
首先，它有令人惊讶的反转，适当的带动情绪的BGM，引发观众思考的故事议题。
印度电影的小毛病都在，但依然五星，给题材。能这样拍电影、能拍出这样的电影的国家和民族有未来。
除了节奏拖沓，音乐太多，其他的都不错。很敢拍，中国影业现在连印度都赶不上。
以为是讨论程序正当的话题，法律牵扯上媒体和政治革命以及女权保护、导师压榨论文机器，真是大餐。政治家最大的武器是利用公众的情感。既白虎后又一力作，印度越来越敢拍。为大尺度+★
反转还是可以的，就是慢镜头和配乐太抒情了，导致后面的反转风格不搭。
电影揭露了一通他们体质的弊端，可最后的结果是消灭这万恶的体质吗？不是的！
不管这部片子中的反转有多少是可实现的，逻辑是不是缜密，但是不妨碍这是一部非常有力量的影片，整个积极向上，每个人物都有昂扬的精神内核。从头到尾都被深深吸引，看完觉得热血沸腾。
牛批啊，这个题材涉及的之广，对比法已经不想用了，吹东亚其他国的工业电影就行。
4.5星。反转的不错，法庭的戏很精彩，被害的女主好漂亮，后面什么意思第二部吗。印度还真是种姓制度荼毒至深的国家都能从外貌上看出来了太可怕了。大学这事原来印度也有，人性的恶真的想通。
有一些缺陷，比较生硬粗暴，但一勇遮百丑，即使是洒狗血式的批判现实主义，也足够中国电影汗颜的了。
