第一部施拉德，非常老派的拍摄风格却能做到引人入胜的效果，对各种元素进行各种沉着冷静的处理。多处鱼眼视角下的景深镜头将试图存封的回忆以梦境的形式呈现，是对秘密不断挖掘的非常奇特的人感官体验，对固有体制的嘲讽与怒吼，每个人既是残忍的施暴者，也是深受痛苦的施虐者，这种作品中所树立的算牌人角色，并没有将大量的文本笔墨放在桌牌之间的抗衡，而是作为迷人眼眸的支线不断摄入冰冷的真相，毕竟对于如此浮躁的好莱坞商业市场，施拉德简直就是不可多得的瑰宝了。

算牌人初进年轻人旅馆镜头首次出戏，整体冷感基调尚不成熟，不出色不坏。

施拉德的写作是70年代classical Hollywood式的，始终有一个hook吸引着看下去，所以完全不会觉得闷。他知道什么该交代什么可以省略，每一场戏又会与前面或后面的某场戏产生呼应，整部片是一个有机的整体，很好看。但是施拉德的拍法是反类型的，这两种风格的混合形成了一套他独特的美学。
因为会算牌，玩牌既可以打发时间也能挣到钱，他单调地活着，终日混迹赌场却清醒自持，不缺钱，缺活着的意义。碰见一个一心复仇的小伙子，他让小伙子跟着他，为了小伙子去参加需要资助人的赌博比赛，违背了一向小富即安的原则。给了小伙子15万，可以解决小伙子及其母亲的困境，可以从此开始正常的生活，他终于找到了活着的意义，热切地盼着小伙子跟母亲团聚的消息。可是，小伙子没有去找母亲还是去复仇并死求了。。。女资助人是他找的第二个活着的意义，这次进监狱，会盼着出来，因为有人来看他。。。想起当年看逃出拉斯维加斯，越看越绝望。这片不同，男主拼命找盼头，这是人和动物的区别，人需要意义，在冰冷中本能找暖和贴贴
（7.3/10）《算牌人》的电影与其主角一样冷峻，施拉德创作的角色William是一个自我审判者，视赎罪为唯一目的，为赎罪不计任何后果。而正如他算牌的经验之谈，打出任何牌都会产生后果。Finally, he tilted.
做闷了我一般很难看进去
身体，灵魂，自我折磨（内疚、苦行、救赎...)，以及美国人的身份和对布列松的热爱：施拉德总在书写具有相似度的人物。美国先生几乎要立刻掌握了最高财富，在一个后911（居然在20周年的时候上映）、后伊拉克的时代，美国人将投入多少筹码到自己的国家？又或是伤害自己作为向国家的报复，酒店或许只是自我流放之地，获得救赎的概率微乎其微，去除了上一部的那些宗教因素，宗教之外的症结在哪？在最后，救赎只会以爱的形式出现，隔着监狱的两只手，在静态平面中身体在连续运动中暂停，这《创世纪》一般的姿势将某种自我意识神话化，试图集中所有唤起一些力量。在此之前的人物只是不会带来浸入感的空的容器，当然也是一种“布列松式的紧缩”—已经没人像这样拍电影了—如艾萨克工整清晰、纪律严明的手写文字，看上去没什么稀奇的也看似已经过时了。
8.2/10 锋芒尽收，新旧表里被高度统一在数字摄影的迷离平面上，直至最后一个镜头定格在男性符号的隔断破除。今年最好的奥系电影（也当然与奥斯卡无缘）
这个题材这个故事，如果是昆汀或者McKay来拍，可以想象能拍到多high，但Shrader就是全程格外控制，节奏纹丝不乱，与男主克制内敛、甚至阴郁的性格相吻合。鱼眼镜头中扭曲的回忆，广角放大的特写细节，构建出带有超现实主义的惊悚风格。Oscar的表演波澜不惊，却惊雷于无声，张力十足还不乏魅力，不知道是今年会是遗珠还是赢来首个奥斯卡提名。
算是蛮讽刺的故事。复仇和扑克毫无关系，但是也是人生无法像赌博一样算出几率
有点没看懂，快演完了，都还不知道主旨是啥，是真比赛复仇，还是互相利用，女主冲出来的意义又是什么，对复仇有作用还是比赛有作用，搞得太慢也太隐晦了，直到最后，也没弄出个有说服力的结局。男主忧郁沉闷的气质很赞，其他，，，
想赎罪，换个别的行业呗，选德州扑克干鸡毛啊！整那气场跟赌神似的，我TM人都码好了，你给我看这个。
很意外很惊喜，空间的推拉固定，对观众的勾引挑衅，氛围的营造，都非常喜欢。尤其喜欢一种理科生一样的固定逻辑式的场景镜头，奥斯卡伊萨克也很有魅力。至于剧情，不需要为什么，感受就好。
明知一副好牌却不屑一顾，不为赌，只为爱好，规则明确适时抽离。影片有一种孤勇的气质又不乏男性魅力，形式感强化，酷。
保罗•施拉德回归“房间里的男人”之作，回归的还有禁欲式的主角，带着伤痕和过去最后实现复仇
有神秘感，好演员。让观众能够跟随电影的情节。ptsd很可怕，参与其中的每个人都是受害者。
虐俘阴影祸后代，又成赎罪公路片。
