The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 拿世界末日开玩笑，绝望中透着浓浓的荒诞气息
只能说是妙不可言，喜欢。在这个灾难类型片已经创作枯竭的时代从另一个维度结合讽刺喜剧扩展了边界，而且对于近几年时事热点的结合做得很流畅很到位，新闻直播间的部分就已经比过隔壁法兰西了。至于视角傲慢的批评完全就是闲出屁的观点。毁灭吧人类。
讽刺到位，美国体制的失败。媒体，科学家，民众，都被政客，商人玩坏了。
比起《大空头》和《副总统》，这是亚当·迈凯在影像和叙事上最规矩的一部作品。
扣分的主要原因，这其实是一个纪录片，而且有过度美化之嫌。所以有点欺骗观众[破涕为笑]。
所以，在一个讽刺现实的片子里，还是会不自觉的流露出一些自大，这算惯性吧？
大牌云集还拍得挺好玩的。人类不行，美国不行，x国当然也不行。
非常怪异的观感，模糊了喜剧和闹剧的界限，至少于我个人而言。

就还行吧，前面展开得不错，很浅显的讽刺笑果也不错，中后段就有点温吞，再把时长缩半小时会更好，这群破人类早该灭绝了就不要再拖延这半小时了吧！
好严肃一片子！演着演着就开始往艺术片的方向走，然后就出现了一些动人时刻，挺有趣的。（BTW，最后那个彩蛋实在是太愚蠢了，大减分）
不是讽刺，也没有黑谁，这就是正在上演的现实。
该着急的时候不着急，来不及了才开始想后路。感觉疫情期间美国好莱坞还真是发扬了娱乐至死的精神。剧情是又扯又讽刺。这样一部扯电影竟然大咖云集。那个手机大咖是影射乔布斯吗？
居然有一种欢欢喜喜过大年的感觉，小李子教授油腻鸡贼胆小最后居然良心发现演得还是蛮细腻的，甜茶是怎么做到那么丑还那么性感吸引人的呢😂求沙丘滤镜呀😂
这个片子的片名应该是《Fuck the World. FUCK YOU.》中文译名可以叫《毁灭吧，累了》

人在死亡来临时，还是要求助于：宗教、亲密关系、getting high(嗑药、性、Etc)
首先是不够荒诞，尤其是在这个post-covid这个本就很荒诞的现实环境下看……其次也不够好笑，除了Meryl的表演；然后虽然众星云集，但出来的效果大多一般吧（Mark Rylance不要再演电影了啊啊啊啊啊
为什么友邻要费劲从各种角度屎里捡豆吃？SNL就该10min长度 Mark Rylance这个声色和吐字神烦！算是演技好？梅姨没啥意思 小李子长成猪了 还AIWF🙄 大表姐倒是有气场 A妹的歌好听 hill角色也神烦 主角眼睛都蓝得诡异 这种夸张讽刺一两句还好 两个半小时就很没用必要 四倍速快进都心疼我的硬盘损耗
