In 1865, during the siege of Richmond, Virginia, the union soldiers POW Captain Harding, Neb and Herbert escape in a balloon during a storm with two confederate prisoners, Sergeant Pencroft and the journalist Spilett. The uncontrollable wind takes the balloon to a mysterious island in the South Pacific in the area of New Zealand. Captain Harding self-proclaims the leader of the group and they look for food; sooner they discover that they are stranded in an island. Further, they are attacked by a giant crab that becomes their first meal. Along the days, they build a shelter and finds that the island is inhabited by giant animals. A couple of days later, they find two castaways on the beach, the aristocratic Lady Mary Fairchild and her sexy niece Elena. Later they find a trunk with weapons and instruments like sextant and shelter with a journal of a man left alone in the island by pirates. When the pirate vessel arrives in the island, they are helped by Captain Nemo of the Nautilus, a submarine that had supposedly sunk in the coast of Mexico eight years ago. 已经对这种中规中矩的传记片有些审美疲劳。疲惫又热情的加菲。
用自传体音乐剧来演绎音乐剧作家的传记，加菲虽然唱得没那么好，但演得很加分啊，简直就是拉森。

他们通过记住和记录他的笑容来缅怀敬爱的他，加菲的演绎更是还原出了这个人物的感染力和人格魅力。戏里戏外相互嵌套的形式、倒数计时的多重寓意与歌词纸条、游泳等等细节也让这部电影的视听系统有很多的可读性，5星给这些才华横溢勇往直前的艺术家。
有几首歌还是挺好听。然而还是那些错过的恋人，让人焦虑吧的时光流逝，青春不再，事业未半，除此似乎也无它。在歌声里，自由与梦想正确无疑，爱情和友谊不可辜负。但那也只是在你我的歌声里。Cages or wings, which do you prefer? ask the birds. Fear Or Love, Baby, Don't Say The Answer. 用处理舞台剧的手法来拍电影，连带着加菲也用夸张式的舞台剧状态来表演，能感受到努力但也觉得有些用力过猛，基本也是全片观感的缩影。剧中剧的模式其实有些节奏上的割裂，尤其在于主线落脚点找不准状况下；稍微了解一下背景能被Jonathan的事迹打动，但片子内呈现的效果就很cliché了。
《吉屋出租》作者的故事，是一次次撞上南墙，直到墙倒下或者自己倒下的故事，作者留下的作品和他关注的群体，都撞倒了墙，哪怕遍体鳞伤，或者玉石俱焚。感谢他们。还有别的墙在，但因为他们，我们知道了墙会倒掉。
Tick, Tick…Boom! 这个名字起得真好。乔纳森·拉森真赶稿狂人。要是少念几个「我马上就三十岁」就更好了。
