Arkham, 1975: Jonathan Davis' father has disappeared. His tracks lead to Germany, to the Swabian-Franconian Forest where he was stationed after the Second World War. brutashell review - 'Filmed in black and white and primarily spoken in German, it is obvious that Die Farbe did not have a huge budget to work with. Effects are minimal and the cast is utterly unknown. I should point out that these are all good things, and work very much in the film's favour. There is no CGI to rely on, no name actors to carry it. Rather, the filmmakers do the unthinkable: they create a genuine atmosphere of unimaginable dread and unspeakable horror, using shadow, suggestion and rare splashes of that Nameless colour in a few select frames. In short, they did a damn good job. Die Farbe is subtle in its mounting horror, nurturing a dark dread deep in your bowels with every shot. All of the best and most stomach-turningly distressing films I’ve ever seen have come out of Germany: M, The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari, The White Ribbon, and now this one. Leave it to the Germans. We know how to gross you out on the deepest psychological levels.
Lovecraft worshippers and devotees of German Expressionism alike, take heed: seek out and view this film at your earliest possible convenience. It’s a dark, noisome little gem that will squirm into your subconscious and lay its eggs in your sanity. Hey, not everyone gets the honour of being a host organism for the Elder Gods, you know.'

摄影、用光还是挺漂亮的，北欧传说的氛围营造出来了。活着的意义就是去英灵殿，只要能延续血脉就可以了，真是野蛮人。这辈子我还能去冰岛吗？
不要被恶意诋毁的营销号带偏了，这是一部很好看的电影，非常尊重中国文化，太极、九尾狐、龙和麒麟都超美！陈法拉柔中有刚，奥卡菲娜可爱灵动，刘思慕又帅又能打。
本片过于追求影像风格化而角色刻画和叙事一团糟，前一个半小时看得我昏昏入睡，直到90分钟后生母揭示真相，剧情才算渐入佳境，我才打起精神来。在前一个半小时的剧情中，就是照搬莎士比亚“哈姆雷特”的故事，如果没有90分钟后的反转来挽救影片，本片的豆瓣评分连6.6都到不了，看完全片才明白实质要讲述的是一个家族相残的复仇故事。
野蛮低能 又臭又长 制作的华丽也无法掩盖故事的空洞 这都什么年代了 谁在乎什么狗屁国王荣耀啊 大家都是普通人 都有自我意识 你搁这想感动谁呢？
三星半。相比the lighthouse确实匠气工业很多。但是不妨碍我看的津津有味。就这种扣细节的运镜非常适合轻微强迫症的我。好莱坞还每年安排一次Macbeth呢，每年看次哈姆雷特不也蛮好。
维京古文化的考究与其元素的充沛并没有弥补叙事动能的不足。作者电影的思维与创作技巧禁锢了该题材本应有的观影情绪。想想当年吉布森的《启示》多么扣人心弦。可惜了。

风格上给四分，大气磅礴又生猛原始，然而，剧情的最大霸哥就是，第一次杀父亲时没有一箭射中孩子，纯属放水，第二次绑起来了不杀，这不是自己给自己挖坑吗？第三次已经跪在地上累的要死了，一箭穿心就完了，还等什么？
舞台剧留在舞台就好了...简直就是维京版图兰朵
远低于预期，几乎没什么惊悚指数。妮可基德曼已经要走上这种不讨喜的母亲辈儿戏路了吗？
但奈何不若《女巫》般具有现代性，又不若《灯塔》般有力量感，只配了个中规中矩的俄狄浦斯。
罗伯特艾格斯水准大失，通篇特别重的游戏CG质感，甚至缺乏《绿衣骑士》那样精彩的调度。

即便有北欧神话做汤底，剧作上乱炖了莎翁的Hamlet x Macbeth，布景和音乐更是魂穿3A游戏Witcher 3和God of War，还是看得索然无味，男主的许多行为让人费解，和女主的感情线更是莫名。
