The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 无聊版的state of union，毫无电影感，看似以单刀直入谈性色变社会症结的巧妙角度讨论中年女性广泛面临的性羞耻和性压抑，实则还是那套乏味至极的弗洛伊德陈词滥调。第三幕的强行冲突尽显编剧的能力不足。第四幕收尾我们似乎认识了Nancy，但对Leo的塑造远未达到剧本预期的身心彼此探索「疗效」，他依然是个提供欢愉的圣人，仅此而已。作为年轻演员和表演大师在戏剧空间互动的教材仍有意义，但除非对演员感兴趣否则可以直接跳过这部。
皮克斯还是有优良传统，简单道理讲得细微又动人，极易共情。
电影故事一般，但，还是那句话，小熊猫超萌的……

《包宝宝》衍生版，女孩的成长烦恼，原片名很棒。比起毛茸茸的红熊猫，对非现实毛绒动物免疫的崽，蜜汁注意力在好像没什么人关注的紫色背带裤女孩身上，也不知道有没有看懂这个勇敢的故事
中国元素真实不虚浮，中式家庭的氛围和各类小细节也很能引起共鸣，但故事里的一些设定带有很明显的政治正确性，就稍有点没劲。几乎和电影主人公同龄，现在也是做妈妈的年纪，开始对母女关系有了更深刻的体悟，爱着反思着。
除了满足福瑞控，还有接纳自己。看得呜呜哭，老姐妹们再次放弃了自我和解的情节让我特别悲伤……

窒息感太过真实，导致中间暂停了几次，缓解之后才能继续看。
一把年纪看coming of age还是被深深打动，大概那些抉择和蜕变的瞬间有太多共鸣。比喻的精准运用重回inside out的水平。中国文化的展现还是略显尴尬但是整个电影很有亚洲味，y2k元素也让人重回童年。

Detroit Rock City + Ghost World + 皮克斯一如既往的合家欢，中国的印记在创作者眼中日渐丰满了起来，吃喝家居，还有那热心肠的七大姑八大姨，只是我不喜欢 4-Town，也不喜欢 Big Bang。

现在已经不大喜欢这种借一个情欲故事来探讨亲子关系或者别的什么所谓精巧的剧本，除了有些撩人的情欲之外，其实没多大意思，因为这些探讨充满刻意的“假”，这是不真实的，并不存在这种探讨和后来的醒悟，不过是种文艺的幻想
