The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 比较老派的西部牛仔片，节奏较慢，但非常起范儿，只推荐爱好传统西部片的人观看。

故事有点老旧和粗糙，枪战的场景也比较一般，不过西部片气氛，演员和音乐都挺好就不会觉得不好看，而且中间发现其实是一定会看的一个题材也是不小的惊喜。就可惜儿子实在太傻了。
牛逼人物往往都有个怂货的儿子，虎父无犬子都是骗人的。你大爷，永远都是你大爷。

就像是一场没有战术的比赛，以最简单直接的方式结束。
稳赢的局，后面非要中两枪加剧情，最后的死也是老套路了。
纯正的西部片，如果枪战再爽些，老亨利再帅些就更好了。
人物三两个，个个都不同，男主老亨利是通过儿子的日常疑问与闯入歹徒的撒谎陪衬出来的，但仍然是用笔极简，后劲深长；电影叙事徐徐展开，挖掘出了一个隐没西部民间十多年的传奇。
画面的气质比想象中没有那么西部片，至少地点放在西部。

他一袭白衣白裤从《巴斯特·斯克鲁格斯的歌谣》乘着歌声的翅膀飘到此地隐居，赔命为跃跃欲试的“生姜”演示了江湖玩命的“老姜”风范，树林里探头探脑的决斗舞步表演得惟妙惟肖。
