The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 不喜欢倒叙的方式讲故事，但很明显这个主题这样表达是最好的方式，“我们都无法成为大人”是的，也许不是无法，而是不想。电影忧伤情绪很到位，黯然伤怀。
适合有一搭没一搭的看着，就像人生有一搭没一搭的过着。你以为的刻骨铭心，都是幻象。
看的时候被别的事情分散注意力，但是瞟回屏幕还是隐约知道在说什么。现在想想，好像第四堵墙的里外，竟然非常意外地吻合:普通。又有点不普通。

回忆总是闪着光的，当不经意间的时间流逝得超乎想象的时候，那一个按下暂停的能让我们回头喘口气并且随着记忆翻滚的瞬间，依旧还是会将我们这些“无法成为大人的”的大人泪流满面。
导演也用独有的角度与镜头语言，台词塑造了无聊又普通的中年大人的世界。
就是跌跌撞撞迷迷惘惘成了普通的大孩子。身体内，那些尚未成佛的词语也将成为，普通的我们的一部分，终生。

我看到有人说那就是普通人的样子，我感到悲伤，为自己可能尚未达到普通这一标准。
你还敢回望自己的人生吗？还有可以想念的人吗？没有了。终于我们都变成了无聊的大人，过着普通而阴沉的生活，只会在这样的电影里，一次次看到自己，为别人的故事流自己的眼泪，却也不会那么卑微而勇敢的去爱了。年岁的增长意味着可能性的减少，这是时间给予我们最残酷也是最温柔的礼物，你不会再有不切实际的幻想，再也不会受伤害了。
可能因為是同個男主角，看的時候總想起《苦役列車》。
